Banner Estrella unveils new MRI technology focused on patient comfort

New imaging device designed to ease anxiety during exams

PHOENIX (July 17, 2025) — Banner Estrella Medical Center has launched a new advanced MRI device that offers high-quality imaging and prioritizes patient comfort with a multi-sensory experience designed to ease anxiety during exams.

“This is more than just an MRI upgrade, it’s a whole new approach to imaging,” said Milissa Cosby, director of medical imaging at Banner Estrella Medical Center. “By integrating sensory-friendly features—sight, sound, and smell—Banner Estrella aims to make imaging appointments less stressful and more accommodating for all patients.”

The new MRI system features a more spacious design, allowing patients to feel less confined during their scans, an important improvement for those who experience claustrophobia. The device is also equipped with soft, dimmable ambient lighting, creating a calming environment from the moment a patient enters the room.

Patients can further personalize their experience by selecting their favorite music to listen to during the procedure and choosing from a variety of essential oil scents designed to promote relaxation.
